Vienna City Walking Tour (2.5 hours):

Meet your guide near Schottenring metro station in central Vienna, and set off on your leisurely paced walking tour. As you stroll your guide will regale you with captivating accounts of Viennese history, explaining the major events from the city’s Roman roots to its wartime woes. Hear of the impact of the world wars and the subsequent political positioning that shaped the city into the culturally rich place it is today.

Highlights of your 2.5-hour walking tour include St Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom), Sacher Café – famous for its Sacher Torte chocolate cake – and Heldenplatz where Adolf Hitler made his 1938 annexation speech during World War II. Visit the Spanish Riding School to see Lippizzan horses practising classical dressage, and see Hofburg Palace – an Imperial building that was once home to the powerful Habsburg dynasty.

Your walking tour finishes near St Stephen’s Cathedral, so you’re ideally placed in the center of town to sightsee independently or enjoy lunch (own expense) before your afternoon bike tour starts.

Vienna Highlights Bike Tour (3 hours):

After your 2-hour break, meet your guide at the pre-arranged point and listen to a quick safety briefing before putting on your helmet. Then, pedal away along Vienna’s leafy streets, following your guide at a steady pace. Ride around the Ringstrasse and admire the city’s stately architecture like City Hall, Vienna University and the Houses of Parliament.

Enjoy plenty of stops throughout your ride to soak up the sights and relax, or pose for pictures as your guide points out points of interest. Marvel at the Neo-Classical architecture of Vienna Opera House, and then pedal across to the eye-catching Hundertwasserhaus – a brightly painted apartment designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Ride to Prater, Vienna’s popular park, stopping for photos by the Riesenrad Ferris wheel, before working your way back to the start point, where your tour ends.

I participated in both the walking and cycling tours. Franz, our guide for both, was thoroughly knowledgeable about the many sights and their history, communicating much information without overload. The cycling was more about variety of location, but we learned a lot at each stop. The folks at the main office/meeting place were also kind and helpful.

The biking tour was great - 3 hours tour of several Vienna highlights. The bicycles were very convenient. From this tour you see a very calm and beautiful Vienna. We have to mention our guide, Horst Harrer, who made this tour so great. Horst spiced the tour with a lot of interesting and funny stories about Vienna, the culture, the people and history. Very recommended as one of the starting points to Vienna.
