Tour Description:

Start your HalfDay Tour with a pickup from your located Rome accommodation.

The driver will await you in the lobby before beginning the 45-minute journey to Tivoli town.

Upon your arrival, purchase your tickets and audio-guide and enter the Villa d'Este, built in the heart of the Renaissance. Walk around the villa independently and observe the magnificent gardens and construction. Pose for photos in front of the Bernini-designed fountains as your audio-guide tells you of the Cardinal and details his lavish life in the Villa.

Be sure to be at the right time to listen to the Fountain of the Organ’s (Fontana dell’Organo) music: it is a show that you should not miss (when operating).

This famous Italian-style garden reverberates with the sound of many fountains that inspired Franz Liszt to write a piano melody titled, "Fountains of the Villa d'Este".

If you wish, you have the option to include a local private licensed guide (available in English) in for the Gardens and the Villa for an additional fee.

If no private licensed guide is chosen, you can rent audio-guides (in English, French, German and Spanish).

After your visit of Villa D'Este you’ll spend some time in the old Tivoli town, stopping also for lunch in a good restaurant with an unbelievable location (own expense) and take a leisurely stroll in the small ancient town of Tivoli. The town offers a wide view of the Roman countryside and stunning landscape.

At the end of your tour, the driver will bring you back to your accommodation in Rome.

The Villa d'Este is a 16th-century villa in Tivoli, near Rome, famous for its terraced hillside Italian Renaissance garden and especially for its profusion of fountains. It is now an Italian state museum, and is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

So close to Rome, no one should miss Tivoli. Our driver, Ricardo was very well versed on the area. After our tour of Ville E'ste (a private for the Villa was not necessary. We purchased the audio guide for 8 Euros each), Ricardo told us of a local restaurant which turned out to be perfect. Perched on top of the village, next to ancient ruins we had a wonderfully, leisurely lunch. Perfect! Ask for Ricardo Giaccari of Italy Best Excursions.

This was an amazing experience! Our tour guide Agnes was so informative and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this if you have the opportunity while in Rome.
