Your expert, guide, hand-picked for knowledge of the catacombs, will lead your small group of 18 people or fewer through these wonderfully historic and atmospheric tunnels, while telling you the story of early Christianity. Next, you’ll head to one of the most singular and spine-tingling sights in Rome, the Capuchin bone crypt. Although it might appear macabre, you’ll learn why the monks actually consider the display life-affirming.

We loved our tour guide, Marta! My husband and I took quite a few tours during our travels around Europe, but we agreed that Marta was easily our favorite. She did a wonderful job of really setting the scene and explaining in detail why certain events had occurred in history. And she did the entire tour on an injured leg! A true trooper with a great sense of humor despite the macabre subject matter. The content of the tour was so interesting. Honestly, I had booked this just for the Capuchin Crypt, but the other 2 locations in the tour were equally as interesting, I'm so glad they were included. You could tell that Marta was truly passionate on the subject matter, she "nerded-out" a few times and as fellow nerds, we just loved her enthusiasm. We would've loved to have taken more tours with Marta!
Very good tour, we spend the day learning a lot of interesting facts about Rome. Our guide was really good, she knew everything about catacombs and Roman history, she answered all the questions, her English were very good and very enjoyable and funny personality. Recommended tour!
We had the absolute best guide a person could have. He could not have been funnier, more knowledgeable and the tour itself was awesome. It was a great tour.
This was an excellent tour. We had a small group of 9 people which was perfect. Our tour guide, Julia, was knowledgeable and she had interesting stories for each of the sites that we visited. We visited 3 locations one was walking distance from the meeting place and the other 2 were locations we had to drive to. We were transported via an air conditioned mini bus which was perfect due to the weather. if you get cold easily, I recommend to bring a light sweater because it will be a little cold underground. Because you are visiting holy places, shoulders and knees must be covered - remember to dress appropriately. The last place you visit will be where you will be dropped off so be sure to plan ahead for pick up or know where you will head to after the tour. The last place we visited was San Nicola in Carcere which was walking distance to the Jewish Ghetto where we had lunch. Make sure to book with Walks of Italy. Thank you Julia for the great tour!
We loved this tour. It was fascinating and definitely different. Our guide, Rhea, was terrific - informed and entertaining.
